Pasture raised poultry refers to chickens and turkeys that are raised with regular access to outdoor pasture, where they can engage in natural behaviors such as walking, scratching, pecking, and foraging. Foraging yields meat and eggs with higher levels of vitamins (A, D, E), heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, and essential antioxidants. although results vary depending on factors such as breed, diet, age, and management practices.

Many consumers also appreciate the transparency that often accompanies pasture raised farming. Smaller scale pasture operations frequently allow customers to learn more about how animals are raised and the farming practices used to produce their food.
